Flexipol Packaging is one of the UK’s leading innovative flexible packaging manufacturers. Founded in 1994, they are situated in Haslingden, Rossendale. They have positioned themselves in the market place as an innovative/specialist manufacturing company who fully understands its customers needs and has the capabilities to provide complete and successful solutions to the demands of their existing and potential customers.
Flexipol Packaging operate 24/7 across three sites and NCS, as their long-term IT partner, were asked to design and implement a fault-tolerant network infrastructure. Downtime in this environment could not be tolerated so therefore we had to ensure that they could quickly and seamlessly recover from any server or software application problems.
NCS installed multiple redundant fibre-optic links between the three sites, each of which is connected via a HP ProCurve switch. These switches have been configured to fail-over automatically should one of the links become unavailable.
Using HP ProLiant fileservers running Double-Take disaster recovery software, NCS can ensure that the main server automatically fails-over to a second redundant server on a separate site in the event of a disaster. This fail-over occurs almost instantly with no noticeable downtime for the network users.
Complete redundancy across all three sites ensures that the customer will not suffer any downtime caused by server failure or cabling infrastructure problems. Data on two servers is continually synchronised ensuring this busy manufacturing site is working 24 hours a day.
