The advice is to upgrade your systems to take advantage of the latest faster, more secure and feature rich products. It is important to mention that your software will not stop working after this date, however Microsoft will no longer provide the critical updates that keep your networks secure.
We are also seeing increasing numbers of 3rd party software providers withdrawing support for their products running on XP from April. For example, we recently received the following advisory from Bacs:-
Running Windows XP SP3 and Office 2003 in your environment after their end of support date may expose your company to potential risks, such as:
Security and compliance risks: Unsupported and unpatched environments are vulnerable to security risks. This may result in an officially recognised control failure by an internal or external audit body, leading to suspension of certifications, and / or public notification of the organisation’s inability to maintain its systems and customer information.
The majority of NCS customers have either replaced their older systems or have a plan in place to do so. If you are still running XP, Office 2003 or Small Business Server 2003 then please contact NCS for advice on the best upgrade options for you.
