NCS News
Last year we announced that we would be
forgoing bringing in cakes to celebrate staff
birthdays and instead would make a donation
to charity.
The NCS staff were able to raise £150 which the
company matched and so we were able to make
a £150 donation each to two local charities
instead of one.
We donated to the Sophie Lancaster and the M3 Project.

Top Tips
Due to the horrendous snow in last week’s
“Beast from the East”, many of our staff were
unable to make it into the office and so we
temporarily needed to put our Disaster Recovery
(DR)
plan in place.
This included diverting phones and remote and
mobile working. We extensively use cloud services
and have the ability to use hosted desktops so
thankfully the snow didn’t stop us providing our
usual service to our customers.
Do you have a DR plan in place? Events like this
show just how important it is to have a DR plan.
If you need some advice, please get in touch with
your Account Manager on 01706 239000 option 2.

warningWarnings & Alerts
It has been reported by the National Cyber Security
Centre (NCSC) that smartphone malware is on the
increase.
Cyber security company Trend Micro announced that
the number of unique mobile malware samples
detected by the company increased 415% from 2016
to 2017.
Previously, identified threats had mostly affected
Android users downloading mobile apps from unofficial
third-party stores but, for the first time, the Google Play
store was significantly affected too. Apple did not escape
unscathed either!

Business Basics
Is your business’ IT system prepared and protected in
the event of a cyber attack? We have recently been
awarded the Cyber Essentials Plus certification and are
recommending that you explore the benefits of applying
the Cyber Essentials standard to your business.
We can guide you through the process by auditing,
assessing and then implementing the necessary security
systems. Please get in touch with our Sales Team on
01706 239000 option 2 to find out more information
