We are seeing more and more reports advising that passwords are simply not strong enough. Here are our top tips to improve security for you and your colleagues:
- Make sure it is at least 8 characters long – the longer the better
- Do not use full words, your name or anything predictable
- Use a mix of upper and lower case letters with numbers – avoid the common rule of capital letter at the start, numbers at the end
- Use symbols – ! # % & ( ) * + , – . / ~ : ; < = > ? @ [ \ ] ^ _ ‘ { | } – the more the better
- Be creative! Avoid simple passwords and use the above rules to make it more difficult. For example hello2u could be H31lo_2_U!
