Is Your Password Secure?

We are seeing more and more reports advising that passwords are simply not strong enough.  Here are our top tips to improve security for you and your colleagues:

  • Make sure it is at least 8 characters long – the longer the better
  • Do not use full words, your name or anything predictable
  • Use a mix of upper and lower case letters with numbers – avoid the common rule of capital letter at the start, numbers at the end
  • Use symbols – ! # % & ( ) * + , – . / ~ : ; < = > ? @ [ \ ] ^ _ ‘ { | } – the more the better
  • Be creative! Avoid simple passwords and use the above rules to make it more difficult.  For example hello2u could be H31lo_2_U!
