Charities Need to Watch Out for Scammers

The UK’s National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) has warned charities to be wary of scammers and stated it will be “crucial for charities to have greater awareness of cyber-attacks and put a range of security measures in place.” One in five charities experienced a data breach or cyber-attack in 2018, with phishing emails the most common tactic used.

Like other businesses, it is crucial that processes are put in place to prevent data loss and attacks. The security measures highlighted in the NCVO report includes ensuring software is up-to-date, anti-malware, secure password policies in place and staff training.
